It’s no secret! I’m an avid gamer. In fact, to be even more precise about the statement, I’m an avid sports gamer. Music and sports have so many parallels and they go hand and hand with each other as many athletes enjoy the music industry and vice versa. In sports gaming (and gaming, period) the soundtrack is almost as important as the gameplay. With that being said, 2K has always let me down on the audio side of life. I’ve always wanted the soundtrack to have a heavy feeling of its own and carry the personality of the game throughout the menus and loading screens. I can honestly say that after hearing the playlist for NBA2K20, I’m thoroughly impressed!
The soundtrack features favorites like Drake, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Nipsey Hussle, Bad Bunny, and more. The soundtrack was curated by music industry legends Steve Stoute and Don C along with Karl Anthony-Towns and Paul Rivera.
“You know, I think that the Commissioner Adam Silver has done an amazing job of leading the men just to be able to express themselves in a way that’s productive,” Stoute said in a statement about basketball’s growth of expression. “I think that the worlds watched this along with the fact the game is expanding. And you have some of the biggest rock stars, I believe personalities, in the game. When you look at Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, LeBron James, and guys like that and the fact that the league allows these guys to be very outspoken, but they’re speaking on what they see happening in these communities. I think the combination of those two things makes it the sport that America gravitates to. Not only America, you know, it’s grown globally. It’s a sport that guys gravitate toward and people love watching.”
