Baltimore, MD –
Zoë Kravitz is excited about her upcoming role as the famed “Catwoman”.
The 31 year old actress is casted for Matt Reeve’s upcoming Batman reboot. “The script is wonderful. It’s really grounded and deep and I can’t say more than that, because I’ll get fired,” she said in an interview during a HULU panel discussion.
She went on to talk about one of the original actresses to play Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer. She continued, “Michelle Pfeiffer — her performance has always been super inspiring to me. It just felt iconic. I think Catwoman, Selina Kyle represents really strong femininity and I’m excited to dive into that.”
Judging by her interview, that femininity is something that she is excited to exhibit in the role. Her beauty and grace could certainly reignite the idea of Catwoman for our generation. The last do it was Anne Hathaway in Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. She did a decent job in the role but she didn’t necessarily own it.
Kravitz has the potential to own it.
It’s refreshing to hear her excitement for sharing the femininity of the role. She believes it can be powerful for a generation of women. “I think femininity represents power, and I think it’s a different kind of power than masculine power. That’s something that’s really interesting about Batman and Catwoman. I think Batman represents a very kind of masculine power, and Catwoman represents very feminine power — slightly more complicated, and softer, too. I like the idea that you can be soft, you can be gentle and still be very powerful and still be very dangerous.”
