Los Angeles, CA-
Sources report that Kobe and Vanessa Bryant had a pact to refrain from flying in helicopters together.
According to People Magazine, a source has confirmed,“He [Kobe] and Vanessa had a deal that they would never fly on a helicopter together.” Kobe also would only fly in helicopters piloted by Ara Zobayan, the pilot who flew Kobe and the other victims of Sunday’s crash, the source revealed.
It’s public knowledge that Kobe chose helicopter travel in order to save time. He wanted to spend more time with his family.
“Traffic started getting really, really bad,” Bryant shared with the Barstool Sports podcast “The Corp.”
“And I was sitting in traffic and I wound up missing like a school play, because I was sitting in traffic. … I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time.”
Increased risks call for increased precaution.
While no official reason has been given for the pact, I believe that it was very intentional. More air travel created heightened risks for disaster. Those risks were known by Kobe and I think that’s why the pact was made. I would do the same.
In the case of a disaster, you wouldn’t want both parents to be taken from the family.
However, that little tid-bit is my personal speculation.
