The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl 54.
It was a match-up that I can’t wait to tell my grandchildren about. Kansas City handled Super Bowl 54 in a way that only they know how. After a spirited 4th quarter comeback, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas Chiefs earned their place in the history books.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 286 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. His struggles in the first half of the game were quickly overshadowed by a powerful performance when it counted most. Out of the backfield, Damian Williams also put on quite the show, scoring the two go-ahead touchdowns to help give Kansas City the win. He put together a 104 yard game. Tyreke Hill and Sammy Watkins put up over 200 yards combined but it was Travis Kelce who would catch the lone receiving touchdown.
“Jimmy G” threw for 219 yards, going 20/31 with 1 TD and 2 INTs. The rest of the 49ers offense spread the stats around as no one player shined.
For the Chiefs, this is their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years and the first Super Bowl victory for head coach Andy Reid. You can expect to see them return for years to come.
