Protect Our Stars: I Love Social Media But I Wish Celebrities Weren’t On It

BALTIMORE, MD –

Many of our favorite celebrities dominate our timelines around the clock; daily. While I enjoy some of those moments, I mostly wish they didn’t exist.

Through social media, these artists are afforded the opportunity to bump shoulders with us commoners. In the beginning stages, the heavy exposure could be quite the experience. Thanks to an unhealthy addiction to attention, our attachment to our favorite artists gets burned out.

It’s an annoyance, honestly.

Today’s industry (and world) revolves around the selling, stealing, and value of attention. Music executives send their artists (really their ours) out into the social media world with limited training and a boatload of ammunition. Artist fall into 24 hour surveillance via social media. Execs force a marriage between us and them.

Seriously, some artists are literally on your timeline every time you log into whatever respective social platform we’re talking about.

I miss the time when our artists were allowed to live a private life. It makes the art taste better, to me.

With these artists in front of the camera 24/7, they’re immensely susceptible to destruction by the public. Fans and social media users argue with each other on public platforms. In the process, some of the most hateful things are said about these artists. We poke and pry until we get a reaction.

But, what if we didn’t? What if we allowed social media to inspire them and we gave our artists space to grow? What about if we treated them like humans?

I hate that a girl can’t wipe her boogies without someone claim she’s on drugs.. then literally free running with it. This article literally proves why social media has taken over people’s heads
