Gov. Lee On Tennessee’s Deadly Tornadoes: “We’ll surround these folks and we’ll do what is necessary.”

NASHVILLE, TN –

Early Tuesday (Mar. 3), storms ripped through Nashville. Tornadoes claimed the lives of 22 people state-wide.

“As tragic as this is — and our hearts are broken — we are certain that we’ll surround these folks and we’ll do what is necessary” to recover, Gov. Bill Lee said.

According to Nashville’s Mayor John Cooper, 48 buildings have collapsed and about 150 people have been taken to the hospital. “We’ve got to go through that and make sure that nobody was left behind,” Cooper said.

The pictures of the damage have been difficult to see. I cannot imagine losing my home and loved ones at the liberty of mother nature. We’re sending love and care to our family in Nashville.

Here’s ABC News coverage of the disaster.
