NEW YORK –
Sources report that Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball have signed with RocNation. The “Ball Brothers” were previously under CAA but left in March.
“This was a family decision,” LaMelo’s agent, Jermaine Jackson said. “This is now an extended family. They put together a beautiful game plan with Jay-Z. The basketball game is about to change. They are going to create something totally new.” After those comments to ESPN, I can’t help but look forward to seeing them enter the league.
It’s an eerie tie to the New York Knicks though.
CAA’s lead agent, Leon Rose, left the company to join the Knicks organization. He is currently their president of basketball operations. Of course, RocNation is also based in New York. There is a possibility that LaMelo could be drafted by the Knicks this year (if we hav-, nevermind). Lonzo won’t be able to join the team until next year due to his contract with New Orleans. But, could this be a step towards getting the brothers together on one team?
CBS Sports reports that RocNation’s first order of business will be securing a sneaker deal for LaMelo. He’s slated to be a top pick in this year’s draft and you can imagine sneaker companies will be clamoring at him. According to Jackson, they already are. “He’s still wide open,” Jackson said. “He hasn’t signed with anyone. Everyone is kicking in the door. Melo is open to whatever. With this pandemic going on, we don’t know what things are going to look like.”
